Chef Bolton

Chef Jeff Bolton

Denver native Jeff Bolton is glad to be home at Second Home Kitchen + Bar in Cherry Creek, creating polished comfort food that’s innovative, unexpected and delicious. Bolton inherited his love of food from his Cuban grandfather and knew by the time he was eight years old that he wanted to grow up and be a chef. Because of his culturally diverse upbringing, Bolton began experimenting with food from around the globe at an early age. Willing to try anything once, he bravely entered the culinary unknown, sampling dishes from every cuisine and adding his own flair.

Bolton graduated from The Culinary Institute of America with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts in 2000; he also studied with local chefs John Platt and Erik Roeder at Q’s Restaurant in the Hotel Boulderado. Bolton honed his culinary skills in Kentucky, where he worked with Chef Michael Paley to open Proof On Main which was rated one of the 20 best new restaurants in the US by Esquire. In New York, alongside Chef Paley, he prepared a dinner at the James Beard House.

His culinary travels have taken him across the country to restaurants in New Jersey, Las Vegas, Martha’s Vineyard, Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina. Each of his adventures has brought new inspiration to Chef Bolton’s culinary style and he’s continues to draw on many different influences when designing the dishes featured at Second Home Kitchen + Bar. As the Executive Chef he has built relationships with local farms, dairies and merchants, bringing fresh, local products to restaurant diners. One such partnership, with Colorado Cuts and Theos’ Swallow Fork Ranch in Meeker, resulted in recognition by the American Lamb Board and their Shepherd to Chef initiative. It was the first program of its kind in a Denver restaurant.
